It's sixteen days until entries for our local art show close, and I've decided that is not enough time to finish one of the nudes and get it framed, so I'm starting a completely separate painting for the art show.
I took this photograph last year at Manly Dam (one of my favourite "nature" spots to visit). I'm using Genesis, on canvas, 60x50cm, and I'm starting with the wipe-out technique, although I've painted in the darkest darks again to emphasise them. I've chosen a fairly strong red-brown colour for the underpainting as it's a reasonable complement to the muted greens that make up a lot of the background. Most of it won't show through in the final painting, of course, but there will be bits of it here and there in the background.
I'm going to call it "What's for breakfast?" and it will be for sale, framed, for $475. Pre-show offers are welcome!
