I decided to paint just one bird today. All sorts of browns, yellows, even some sienna went into it over several layers. As with everything else I haven't over-blended the paint which has worked well to suggest lots of varied plumage rather than flat surfaces. I've put in some extra detail using thinned raw umber, and glazed some areas using the same to turn the forms. With that done I've fixed up a few bits here and there and adjusted some of the background tones.
